Impressions in Stone has grown, especially since moving to the Stirling area in 1989, from concentrating solely on small domestic jobs to carrying out a whole range of domestic works
along with large restoration and refurbishment contracts throughout Scotland.
The company was set up in Glasgow in 1987 by Alex Milne - well known in the trade for
his quality craftsmanship. Alex learned his craft the traditional way - his father, one of the best stonemasons Scotland has ever produced, had Alex on the tools from a very early age.
Alex's official apprenticeship was served at Stirling Castle under Historic Scotland and
was followed by a very quick rise through the ranks to a managerial post with a fairly large company where he stayed until leaving to set up his own business.
We have a highly skilled team of masons and labourers with Alex and his partner
still at the helm. Although many large contracts are undertaken, the company is never keen to move away from its "small business" status. We feel that the personal touch is important both
on site and, more importantly, when dealing directly with the client.
We carry out a diverse range of masonry works, which includes all types of stone walling (new build, repairs or even re-pointing),
general stone repairs and alterations to a variety of stone buildings (housing, churches,
shop-fronts etc), Chimney repairs (alterations and new build), stone paving and many others.
